Northlight designs and delivers AI and IoT solutions for energy and industrial automation — starting with automated demand response (ADR), so buildings, plants and fleets of assets can earn from flexibility instead of paying for peaks.
Load-control logic, OpenADR-style signalling and market-ready telemetry so your assets can shift, shed or store on command — automatically, within the limits you set.
Forecasting of load, generation and prices; anomaly detection; optimisation of when to consume, store or sell. Models that explain themselves to operators.
Modbus, BACnet, KNX, DALI, MQTT, OPC UA. We connect what you already have — meters, drives, HVAC, lighting, batteries — without ripping anything out.
We scope, apply for and run R&D and pilot projects with universities and industry partners, from Estonian innovation vouchers to Horizon Europe consortia.
Grid operators pay for flexibility: the ability to raise or lower consumption within seconds to minutes. Most buildings and plants have that flexibility — in HVAC, cold storage, pumps, EV charging, batteries — but no way to offer it. Northlight adds the layer that listens for a signal, decides what can move safely, and acts.
A price, a grid event or a scheduled window arrives from the market, the aggregator or your own rules.
AI checks comfort, process and safety constraints and picks the assets that can respond now.
Setpoints change, loads shift, storage charges or discharges — logged and verifiable.
Baseline, response and savings are measured and reported for the aggregator, the TSO or your CFO.
2–4 weeks. Site and data audit, flexibility potential, business case, funding map.
2–4 months. Connector, control logic and dashboard on one site or test cell. Often co-funded by an innovation or development voucher.
6–12 months. Live operation, measured response, market pre-qualification with a partner BSP. Applied-research track with a university where it fits.
Roll-out across sites and portfolios; hand-over to operations or to the Luminsights platform.

Northlight OÜ is an Estonian company focused on AI and IoT project delivery in energy and automation. It is planned to become part of the Luminsights group, which builds sensing, lighting-control and space-intelligence products for commercial buildings. Northlight brings the energy-flexibility layer; Luminsights brings the installed base and the platform.
We work with industrial and commercial energy users, property owners, DSOs and aggregators, and research partners across the Baltics and the Nordics.
